Hello, I’m Catherine Bowdler, a printmaker based in the Midlands. Born in Staffordshire, I grew
up in Worcestershire and now live in Stourbridge. I studied BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles at Loughborough College of Art and Design, before moving back to the West Midlands.
I’ve always loved drawing and making things and found that most of what I like tends to be flat,
so printing was the natural choice for me.
In recent years I have moved away from printed fabric to make original and affordable prints on paper.
Inspired by mid century design and crafts, traditional and contemporary patterns, I use
both drawing and cutting in the design stage to produce fresh, clean images, often with a subtle Scandinavian or Japanese flavour.
All my work is original and screen printed by hand in low editions using
acid free artists papers and hand mixed inks.
My work is sold in galleries across the U.K. Please see the ‘Buy’ section for more details.
Please feel free to email me any questions.
What is an Original Print?
An original print is created and designed by an artist, typically signed and numbered in a limited edition.
What is Screen Printing?
Screen Printing is a form of stencil printing, which along with relief printing, is the oldest form of
printmaking. It has developed over the years and there are various methods of producing a screen print. Although quite technical, I have tried to briefly describe the method
which I use to produce my work.
